I recently began using a large (120gram) pine soot inkstick for my shufa practice. I am very impressed with how smoothly it grinds, how it covers when brushed, and the depth of black it provides. I think I bought it from Man Luen Choon quite a while ago, but I can’t be sure.

I can’t quite read all the characters on the wooden box it came in. I want to ask if anyone can help me identify this product?

Here is a picture of it:

Second question: do the folks at Inkston have an inkstick that might be equivalent to this? : )

      Thanks cwtmovement,

This is a fine pine soot inkstick from Cao Su Gong, a famous inkstick brand from Shanghai. The equivalent inkstick is Old Hu Kai Wen´s extra fine pine soot inkstick. 🙂

Thank you very much! I was not reading the lower characters very well on that label. The Old Hu Kai Wen is now on my wishlist!
