Maître des clésThere are some interesting articles about traditional paintings in Shanghai daily online edition:

These are setting the paintings in their historical context more than specifically commenting on materials and techniques.

Maître des clésHi nurimmas,
Yes, you need to grind them and add some clean water drops to the color. Or add water drops to the pigments and then grind them. If you are familiar with using gelatin/ glue, you can also play the pigments with extra gelatin/ glue to create special effects.
We have uploaded some photos on this page about colour preparation:

Maître des clésYes it would be great to have more subtitles… it’s time consuming to do.
to refer to any other videos and links on the forums, just put the link on a separate line and the embedding etc will happen automatically…

Maître des clésIf your ink is coming out grey, do you have good quality ink? that’s the first question – I’ve seen a lot of comments around the internet about some of the cheaper inks that turn out too grey. All the inks on inkston should be ok, for example Jin Bu Yi is popular and there are also special inks for more deep or glossy black effects.
And did you mix the ink yourself?moqiao
Maître des clésThanks for the suggestion tibiliu, actually there is an « edit » link for forum posts but it was only available for 10 minutes after posting, I have just increased it to 24 hours.
The idea is that the forum discussion is a conversation so apart from correcting initial typographical errors, you would normally add a new reply to the conversation rather than change what you originally said.
