Heavy and beautifully smooth polished hand-carved ink stone.
Decorated with carving of old HuiZhou (SheXian) main gate, marked in traditional chinese writing 徽州古城 Hui Zhou ancient city – written the traditional way, from right to left.
The inkwell has a raised carving of a traditional style boat apparently sailing into the inkwell as if it is the Huizhou river.

Old Hu Kai Wen is one of the most prestigious ink stick and ink stone manufacturers in China. It was set up in the 18th century and was a royal supplier for China’s Imperial Family in Qing Dynasty. It provides the highest quality products which are made with the most traditional craftsmanship.
The marking on the box is 中国歙砚 “China Sheyan”, Sheyan means inkstone from Shexian, Huizhou, which is one of the most highly sought after type of ink stones. This type of stone is very smooth and can maximize the quality of the ink by keeping the ink moisturized and delicate.

My first ink stone (the last one I had was plastic). It’s very smooth and quite large.
It has a large surface for grinding and a large well for dipping small to relatively large sized brushes.
I could not be happier with this, as the brushes I have been using are quite large I can submerge them in ink easily with this stone. It’s absolutely perfect.
Note; I put a regular sized brush in the picture to show a size comparison.

Beautiful stone! The support and communication from inkston was amazing as my stone was challenged by the pandemic first in China and then in the rest of the world. It took a long time to get it due to the virus but well worth the wait.

The ink stone works well, but isn’t exactly as pictured. My stone has no raised portion in the well. I frankly like the one I received even better than the one pictured!

Perfecta de textura para el tamaño que tiene. 20 cm. De diámetro. Muy suave y bien pulida. De agradecer la tapa de piedra, q permite hacer mayor cantidad de tinta y utilizarla al día siguiente. Bien embalada.

Extraordinaria piedra , de unas dimensiones más que considerables.
Pesada y muy estable.
La circunferencia de rayado es la ideal, y la tinta se va depositando en la parte inferior.

Magnifique pierre à encre ronde de 12 cm
Merci à Inkston pour cette pierre à encre pas onéreuse, qui est très certainement en ardoise, très pratique avec son couvercle de 12 cm.
Elle peux contenir jusqu’à 140 ml d’eau, presque 15 cl, c’est très pratique quand on doit faire des grands format, de plus elle est étanche une fois le couvercle remis dessus, j’ai testé.
La pierre est livré avec une feuille de papier de 70 X 67 cm, qu’il suffit d’humidifier pour ôter tous les plis, cette feuille se trouve dans une très belle enveloppe cartonné rouge, très sympa.
L’emballage était super sécuritaire et de ce fait tout est arrivé à bon port.
Que du bon Inkston, continuez, merci encore. -

Muy buena relación calidad-precio, y desde luego mi mejor piedra por ahora, de todas las q tengo. Echaría en falta alguna piedra con tapa para q la tinta se seque más lentamente. Un placer trabajar con ella.
