This is a set of famous ancient Chinese inkstick designs. Price is for one animal inkstick. Each inkstick shows a different animal from the Chinese Zodiac along with its name in traditional Chinese writing of seal script.
The design is the Chinese zodiac. This a classification scheme that assigns an animal and its reputed attributes to each year in a repeating 12-year cycle. This 12 animals scheme was also the ancient Chinese way for measuring time. Each animal refers to a specific time period. Besides this, each animal is connected to 5 basic elements.
These are the time periods: 子（zǐ） 、丑（chǒu） 、寅（yín） 、卯（mǎo） 、辰（chén） 、巳（sì） 、午（wǔ） 、未（wèi）、申（shēn） 、酉（yǒu） 、戌（xū） 、亥（hài）

Very nice starter ink sticks – designs are beautiful. Definitely recommended for beginning level use! Lighter tones.

This type of ink stick would be good for student level, or beginners level in Chinese calligraphy it’s not high quality but it’s not horrible it’s in between.
