This is probably the most famous pine soot inkstick in 20th century. It was exhibited at 1915’s Panama-Pacific World Exhibition and it won Gold Award. Now it is on display in the AnHui Provincial Museum.
This Globe inkstick is marked ‘A MEMORIAL OF PANAMA EXHIBITION U.S.A. 1915 MANUFACTURED BY HU KAI WEN THE FIRST ESTABLISHED FACTORY HSUI-NIN ANHUI CHINA.’
The inkstick is made with aged pine soot and then added with various types of valuable herbs and gelatin. It was handmade with the most strict procedures.
